Train Demolishes Car West of Sidney at 3 A.M.
An automobile owned by Glenn Richard of Brownson was nearly destroyed when struck by a freight train west of Sidney at 3 a.m. Sunday. Richard and Robert Fair of Sioux Ordnance Depot abandoned the car after it veered, and attempted to flag the train without a flashlight. The impact damaged the 1937 Buick, which had become hung on a rail.

A westbound Union Pacific train, Extra 216, 92 cars, diesel, collided with a car driven by Robert N. Wimmer, 19, Scottsbluff, near the U S 30 and State 19 intersection. Wimmer escaped injury. his 1951 Chevrolet sustained about 350 dollars in damage. Sheriff W W Schulz investigated. Nebraska State Safety Patrol conducted the overall inquiry.
