A soft two and a half day snowstorm drenched Cheyenne County with .25 inch moisture from five inches of snow, reviving winter wheat to near normal. Local agent Ivan Liljegren said conditions reached 100 percent normal, with fields on North Table described as lush. Temperatures ranged from -7 to 31 degrees during the storm, highway slickness eased after thaw, and no major accidents were reported. Predictions called for stronger winds, higher temps, and possible snow flurries.

The Sidney Police Department gains west state coverage with a new 39.90 band radio installed Monday. Police chief Sol Willis says the system links with Chappell and Kimball, relaying messages across the Panhandle. Five sets are installed in the station, chief’s car, city utilities car, police car, and a forthcoming rural fire truck. Mrs Jesse King Burn Injuries From Household Fire
Mrs Jesse King was hospitalized at Sidney Hospital Tuesday after suffering first degree burns on her face legs and second degree burns on her arms and hands from a morning fire at her home. Fire chief I B Downs says gasoline used for washing clothes on Monday produced fumes that ignited near the hot water heater, scorching the washing machine and damaging kitchen walls and ceiling. No damage estimate yet.
