Dinny And The Witches stars lead Panhandle Players cast

Mrs Lewis Mehling plays Amy and Larry Delinger stars as Dinny in the Panhandle Players stage this Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Senior High auditorium directed by Mrs John Elwell Jr. Also in the cast are Mrs Otto Aufdengarten Mrs Mattie Bryan Barbara Helms plus six other teenagers. Tickets at the door or with season or patrons tickets. This is the first production of Panhandle Players 1964 season.

Many Elections April 7th Gurley Special Liquor Issue

Gurley voting on April 7 will include liquor-by-the-drink as the only special issue. Also on ballots for Sidney and Gurley are city council, school board, and police magistrate races with multiple candidates, including incumbents and new contenders, plus term lengths affected by recent deaths and transfers.

Three Western Nebraska towns set liquor by the drink vote

In Gurley Bridgeport Kimball and Chappell voters go to the polls next Tuesday on liquor by the drink. Cox will oversee activities across most of the Southern Nebraska Panhandle.

Noonans Seek Land Transfer Between School Districts

A freeholder petition by Harry N and Mrs Elsie M Noonan will have a hearing on April 14 to transfer land from School District 132 Morrill County to District 91-C Cheyenne County The hearing before the county clerk treasurer and Superintendent will determine only the Noonans property and has no broader effect.

Wheat Head Sees Gains If Bill Passed

McCOOK The Nebraska Wheat Growers Association president Wayne Allen said a voluntary certificate wheat bill soon to be voted on in the House would cut taxpayer costs while meeting key goals. He said the bill maintains producer income, reduces wheat program costs and surplus stocks, and gives farmers more freedom. If defeated, growers face about 70 cents per bushel less for this year's wheat.

Junior Leaders To Elect Tuesday

New officers for the 4 H Junior Leaders will be elected at a 7 30 p.m. meeting next Tuesday April 7 in the 4 H Building. County Agent Ivan Liljegren explains that this is the time of year for new members to join. Youths 14 years or older with 4 H Projects who want to help younger members or assist leaders with special Projects are invited to join.

Snow ends this afternoon with winds diminishing this evening. Tonight becomes partly cloudy and rather cold. Tomorrow looks generally fair and warmer with lows around 15 tonight and highs near 40 to 50.

Beef Import Curb Sought by Western Nebraska Chamber

OGALLALA The Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce plans to send State Sen ator George Gerdes of Alliance to Manhattan Kansas April 23 24 with a resolution urging the U S Tariff Commission to substantially lower beef imports. About 200 attended the evening dinner at the VFW Club with a Nebraska history program by Dr. Robert Manley. Directors discussed Interstate 80 sign regulations state owned school lands and Interstate priorities. No action on Interstate priorities. a resolution on billboards expected at the next meeting.

Rites Pending For Dalton Resident

John Kallenbach 76 of Dalton died this morning after a stroke at Pioneer Memorial Hospital where he had been taken a day earlier. Services are pending at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home. He had lived about 50 years in the Dalton community.

Sidney SHS music director leaves for Alaska post

Sid Phelps, Sidney High School instrumental music director for five years, will relocate with his family to Petersburg Alaska where he will serve as music director for the public schools.
