Four and a half month old Kim Koch, daughter of Ronald and (Mrs.) Koch, receives the first of many soft animals and hand puppets donated by Alpha Iota chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. Hospital administrator Leo Bolin accepts the gift on behalf of Memorial Hospital as the sorority plans to keep the project perpetual to supply toys for young patients. After years of test drilling Lodgepole gains a new water well at the town edge. The 98 foot well yields 430 gallons per minute with water 45 feet down after a 24 hour test. About 900 feet of pipe will connect to the mains. The well is 36 inches top, 24 inches bottom, cased in 12 inches. Town officials praise the test amid earlier shortages and rationing. Four New Highway Entrance Signs Studied by CC Board
The Cham ber of Commerce board discussed four new highway entrance signs for Sidney with focus on minimal lettering. Horse Sale At Sidney Livestock Pavilion Sunday
A special horse sale is set for Sunday April 5 at 12 30 PM at the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion. An estimated 100 to 150 horses will be listed with two outstanding Appaloosas and at least 15 saddle horses in the ring. Listings accepted until sale time. The regular livestock sale starts Saturday April 4 with 300 to 400 cattle and 50 feeder pigs expected.

John Hippen Hurt In Ranch Accident At Martin Hospital
John Hippen, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jessen, was badly injured in a ranch weekend accident while lassoing a cow. He was hospitalized in Martin and scheduled for surgery with a Rapid City specialist. Blood transfusions were given as doctors prepared for the operation. His mother, Mrs. Hanna Hagemeister, had previously traveled from Dalton to Martin.

Wheat Belt Plans New Transmission Line Bid Invite
Wheat Belt Public Power District will open bids April 21 for material and labor for about 14 miles of transmission line from its Chappell substation to the Kansas Nebraska gas plant at Julesburg. Manager Charles Ham said heavier line will be installed and the plant will receive low voltage service temporarily before a Julesburg substation is built. Increased local load drives the project to be built this spring.
