Former Sidney Lady Narrowly Escapes Fire Loss
Mrs. C. H. Meyers known as Mrs. James Tucker barely escaped with superficial burns after a fire engulfed her general store and home in Sidney Oregon last week. Her husband Mr. Meyers and daughter Mrs. Cuba Crutchfield with her baby escaped in night clothes as flames spread through the stairs and rooms. A large lamp exploded scattering burning oil, leaving Mrs. Meyers with only minor injuries and her daughter miraculously rescuing the baby.

Would-Be death by own action at National Hotel
R J Upson a Denver traveling salesman, in high mental excitement, attempted suicide at the National Hotel by shooting. He later recovered briefly, went to the depot to return home, then again shot at himself behind a water tank. He was brought back to the hotel, treated by Dr Mantor, and left Friday seemingly grateful to be saved. He had been despondent for days.
