One Sure Way To Find Out About Hay
College Station June 26. Test hay quality to settle debates says Al Novosad Texas A&M Extension pasture specialist. Forage samples show wide crude protein ranges from 3.7 to 19 percent in coastal bermuda and 1.9 to 12 percent in forage sorghum with averages 8.7 and 5.2 respectively. Net energy is now used to gauge value. Fertilizer rate and harvest maturity largely drive quality with longer growth lowering quality.
