Shepherd Highs Annual Alumni Homecoming Schedule

The Shepherd High School hosts its annual alumni homecoming on Saturday October 15 with a 2:00 PM parade starting at the school, open house and tours 2:00 to 5:00 PM, a 6:00 PM business meeting, and a 8:00 PM football game against Clare. Queen Betty Allen will be crowned, the band will perform, and post game dances follow at the gym and I.O.O.F. Hall.

Dow executive kicks off United Fund drive at CMU breakfast

Mr Louis Butenschoen of Dow Chemical Midland delivered the kickoff address to volunteers at a United Fund breakfast in CMU's new Student Center Tuesday morning. He said needs are constant and emergencies arrive, urging continued support.

Hook And Trigger Club Trap Shoot Slated Sunday

The Shepherd Hook and Trigger Club sponsors a Trap and Running Deer Shoot on Sunday October 16 1960 eight miles west of Mt Pleasant or one mile west of Deerfield across the river. All day event with sandwiches and refreshments on the grounds. Ham prizes for the best shoot. Everyone invited.

Boy Scouts Budget Set By Isabella County United Fund

The Isabella County United Fund board approved a 1960-61 Boy Scout budget of 9562 dollars, about 19.92 percent of the UF total. Approximately one dollar of every five goes to Boy Scouts with a full time professional Scout Leader to serve Shepherd, Rosebush, Weidman, Blanchard, Mt. Pleasant Home and Training School and other areas.

Ira's Shoe Repair Shop announces closure on November 1 1960 due to lack of business. Shoes in the shop should be picked up before then and repairs will continue at the owner's home at 237 West Central Ave after hours and Saturdays. A final merchandise sale runs this week through month end.
