R and H Feed Company to Open New Farm Feed Service

Farmers in the area will gain an added service as R and H Feed Company opens facilities for a new farm feed service on January 15. Dick Houghton, long time manager of the Michigan Bean plant in Alma, will own and manage the venture. The Shepherd plant will be fully operational on opening day with further improvements planned for spring.

Shepherd Chamber Elects New Directors and Officers

The Shepherd Chamber of Commerce elected three new directors Richard O Connor Arthur Swagger and Gerald Farnun for three-year terms during its January 2 meeting at Shepherd State Bank Russell Kelley was named president Joe Grace was named vice president and Gerald Famun was chosen secretary and treasurer for the coming year The group adjourned to January 9 to name officers amid calls for greater member participation and enthusiasm for future leadership

Rebels Quartet To Be In Shepherd January 23

The Rebels Quartet of Tampa Florida will perform at Shepherd High School Gymnasium January 23 1964 at 8 00 P M by the Shepherd Recreation Association. The group organized 15 years ago by young businessmen rose to national fame as leading gospel singers with extensive radio TV and live appearances. Members include John Matthews Horace Parrish London Parks and Jerry Kerry with Lakeland Tampa and Asherville roots noted for their family values and civic work.

Representative Strange to Address County Republicans

Rep Russell Strange will speak at the county GOP meeting in Union Township Hall at 7 30 p m on Wednesday. He will discuss pending legislation and the defeated tax reform program as part of a night focused on grass roots Republicanism and the new constitution for the Tenth Congressional District.

Jaycee Auxiliary Meeting At Home Of Marilyn Garber

The Jaycee Auxiliary met at Marilyn Garber’s home with co hostesses Janet Vautrin and Evelyn Becker. Fourteen members attended and a Christmas gift was given to Broomfield Hospital. The next gathering is Nancy Zimmerman's on February 4 1964 a Bee Line Party with each member allowed one guest. Indiana port figures note Michigan has 19 Great Lakes ports handling a million tons plus yearly reaching world markets via the St Lawrence Seaway.
