Shepherd Scouts win Klondike Derby top honors at Camp Rotary
The Antelope Patrol of Shepherd Boy Scout Troop 23 won top honors at the Klondike Derby held at Camp Rotary. Over 120 scouts participated with more than 20 patrols hauling six foot long fifty pound sleds through stations testing first aid fire making knot tying and more.

The Rebels Quartet will perform at the new First Baptist Church on East High in Mt Pleasant on Tuesday February 25. Service begins at 7 30 PM with a free will offering and no tickets sold. The church at High and Isabela Roads seats 700 and is south of M20, east of Mission Street. The group hails from Tampa Florida.

Shepherd High Band students win multiple awards at Woodwind Solo events
Eight band members earned honors at the Woodwind Solo and Ensemble contest in St Johns last Saturday. Do reen Spencer Lida Wendh and Richard Curtiss led first division wins while Pam Purtill Janet Lantz Cathy Wilberding Mark Adams Marilyn Berry Kay Davis earned second division medals. Third place honors went to Linda Jaybee Don Berry and Tom Gates. The band, directed by Lemmer, will perform at the Winter Carnival on March 2.

Parents Organize To Aid Hard Of Hearing Children
A Mid Michigan association for parents of hard of hearing children will hold its first meeting Thursday February 13 at 8 p.m. in the Maroon Room of Central Michigan University Student Center. Dr Derek Sanders of CMU will advise and a film Deafness in Children will be shown. The group aims to share diagnostic and treatment information and improve education and acceptance for affected children.
