The Shepherd High School Winter Carnival will be held Monday evening March 2 at the high school gym. A 5:30 PM dinner in the cafeteria precedes games starting at 6:00 PM featuring many new activities for adults and youths. Door prize and radio drawing. Larger prizes for most players. Organizers urge everyone to attend for community fun.
With extra shelf space now available, Coe Two Library reports a wave of new books for adults including fiction westerns and mysteries. More magazines such as Life Parents and The Saturday Evening Post will be added soon as staff upgrade the collection and show improving results.
A Polio Benefit features a card party cake walk and dance at the I O O F Hall on Friday evening February 21. Everyone is welcome.
The P T A plans its monthly meeting Monday evening February 24 1964 at 8 o clock in the school cafeteria A Founders Day movie Where Children Come First will be shown Past presidents of the P T A will be introduced.

The Peoples Party met at the Coe Township Library Monday evening at 7 30 nominating President George Grim Clerk Leota Cline Treasurer Gertrude Rosselti Trustees Vern Philo Ray Zimmerman and Al Weaver Assessor Elton Miller The Citizens Caucus met at 8 30 nominating President Harold Lantz Clerk Helen Hummel and deferring Treasurer and Trustee choices to balance Elton Miller as Assessor.
The Shepherd High School Band competes in the Annual Band Festival at Midland on February 29, facing Class AA Midland Class A Mt. Pleasant Class A Alma and Class B Ithaca and St. Louis among others. Shepherd plays at 2 40 p m with 25 cent admission granting all day privileges.
Secretary James M. Hare warned that February 24 begins a peak period as more than 1,000,000 Michigan motorists already bought 1964 licenses with over 2,000,000 still to go. He cautioned that many will stand in long lines at Secretary of State branches during the last week of the rush.
Central Michigan Life, the CMU weekly, earned a First Class rating from the Associated Collegiate Press for the first semester of the current academic year. Page 6 contains the award note.
Alda Laidley announces retirement from the Shepherd School System effective June 1964 ending 26 consecutive years as active teacher and administrator. Superintendent Warmbrunn and the School Board thank her for decades of service while noting her career began in West Virginia and included work in Oklahoma before moving to Michigan.
Rural Shepherd residents Mr. and Mrs. August Moeggenberg marked fifty years of marriage with a February 16 High Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Shepherd. Family members, including Reverend Raymond Moeggenberg, attended a reception for 175 dinner guests and 400 well wishers at the VFW Hall.
