The Shepherd Methodist Church WSC meet August 5 at 1 pm with 27 attendees. Robert Garber Jr spoke on Youth of the Church and the MYF retreat to the Upper Peninsula, tracing MYF history since 1962 and membership growth from 9 to 38. The meeting ended with the Prayer Circle.
The Enid Recordeau Dancers headline a four night harness racing program at the Midland Fair with six or more races nightly and over 21000 dollars in purses. Saturday features the Hurricane Helldrivers stunt show by Danny Fleenor with two performances. Kids Day offers reduced rides Tuesday afternoon and free on-site parking until 5 p.m.
The Midland Fair schedules free evening acts from 7 to 8 pm at the Merchandise Mall with local high school bands and specialty acts. A 4H FFA fat steer auction is planned Thursday evening and a 4H Rodeo on Saturday afternoon. The new 60 by 200 foot saddle horse building and overflow crowd due to sold out buildings mark a premier Central Michigan event with ample free parking at 50 cents per car.
