Horses Return To Spotlight At Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair
The 1960 Isabella County Youth and Farm Fair features a major horse show led by the Chippewa Wranglers Riding Club with ten events and exhibitions including riding tricks and square dancing on horseback. The Horse and Rodeo Show opens the evening lineup on Tuesday August 16 at Island Park, followed by the traditional Horsepulling Events on Wednesday August 17 under Ern est Klumpp and Earl Hafer, promising strong purses and large entries.

State Highway Dept Sells Excess Property At Public Auction
Seven parcels of excess property from the State Highway Department sold at public auction for 11250, about double their appraised value. Parcels located in Kent Isabella and Clinton counties included a lot on US 16 by pass east of Eastern Ave sold to Jim Emery Grand Rapids for 2000 after 35 raises. Willard W Sprague Portland bought 332 acres east of Eagle for 4800 after 26 raises. Another parcel Loomis and Washington Streets Loomis Isabella County sold to Joseph Vodicka Clare for 250.

Hook And Trigger To Sponsor Gun Safety Course
The Hook and Trigger Club and Michigan Conservation Department team up to offer a four hour gun safety course for beginners. A meeting is set at the V F W Hall on Thursday evening August 4 urging boys 12 and older planning to handle guns this fall to register for the four evening sessions to be announced later. Movies will accompany instruction by trained staff to promote safer woods and fields and reduce gun accidents. Parents are urged to enroll their children planning to hunt this fall.

Free Fallout Shelters For Michigan Families
