Maple Syrup Run Nears End At Shepherd Bush Festival
The Shepherd Sugar Bush Corporation reports over 600 gallons canned and mostly sold as the season nears its end. Warmer rains may extend output by about 50 gallons, with the Maple Syrup Festival set for Saturday April 18 featuring a queen, a parade and rodeo plus all you can eat pancakes and sausage for $1.00. Activities include an Old Car Club visit, a dance at the IOOF Hall, and contests with prizes. New Rotary Club officers will be inducted July 1, and several new members have joined. The community plans a Spring Membership drive for the Recreation Association and a watershed reconnaissance for Public Law 566 eligibility on April 16 at Mt Pleasant.

Fires Keep Local Firemen Busy
Shepherd's firemen answered two calls last week. At the Ted Jones home four miles West and 3/4 South of Shepherd the heating plant set the house afire but damage was limited to holes in the floor. They also fought a grass fire at the Martin Farr residence on Saturday A.M.
