Recall of Organic Pastures raw milk over E coli linked to illnesses
Kern County Public Health warns of a statewide recall of Organic Pastures raw milk from Fresno County after a San Bernardino County case and two more pediatric illnesses. The order, to pull all raw dairy products except aged cheese, aims to prevent further infection while investigators compare strains to the spinach outbreak. Pasteurized milk remains the safer option.

Buttonwillow rider injured after SR 58 crash
Buttonwillow resident Brett Scott, 19, sustained moderate injuries when his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle collided with Barbara Delossantos's 2003 Kia Optima on State Route 58 west of North Main Street. Scott was ejected and airlifted to Kern Medical Center. Delossantos was uninjured.

Delano man arrested on drug charges in Shafter
Detectives from the Kern County Sheriff's Major Violator Unit arrested 30 year old Jose Ortiz in Shafter on transportation sales and possession for sale of heroin. About 150 grams of heroin $11891 in cash and one firearm were seized, with heroin valued at roughly 15000 on the street.

Escapee Ramirez Arrest Details at Bakersfield
Escaped from Lerdo Minimum Facility on July 22 and lived under an assumed name in the Bakersfield area. Ramirez was taken into custody at 201 S. Kincaid after deputies pursued the escapee to the location. He was booked into the Central Receiving Facility on two warrants, including escape with a $50,000 bail and a no bail warrant for narcotic sales and transportation.
