Proposed Sherman Pass ski project eyed near Kernville
Writers visiting Kern River Valley studied a plan to develop Sherman Pass as a 9000 foot winter sports area by 1978. The site would host about 2000 skiers with one chair lift and two T bars, and draw an estimated 300000 visitors in winter. Construction could follow a 1976 Forest Service prospectus, with access via a near complete main road to the site.
