Robbers with handkerchief masks hit four in Shaf ter area
Lawmen sought two highwaymen who robbed four victims in the Shaf ter area early Sunday. Stanley Rogers, 17, and Noah Owens, 20, of Mettler Station were booked later this week on suspicion of three similar crimes. The first stick up occurred at 12 15 a.m. on Orange avenue near Smiths Corner, when Luther LeCompte and Mrs William Grant were robbed of a bill fold with $16. The men fled in a vehicle after asking directions and later threatened victims with a gun. Officers believe the pair also robbed two men on Poplar near Kimberlina, taking 50 cents.
