Freeway Route Set for 163 Miles Westside Highway

California Highway Commission adopts routing for 163 miles of Westside Freeway in Fresno Kings and Kern counties from the Merced Fresno line to north of Wheeler Ridge near US 99. Cost estimated at 89.6 million with start of construction tied to funding. overall project includes 48 miles and 240 miles of Westside alignment across multiple counties.

1st Lt John Kelly Arrives in Hawaii with Wife

Marine 1st Lt John I Kelly arrived in Hawaii on September 22 with his wife. He is assigned to Officer of Radio Company, Pacific Fleet Marine Force, at Camp H M Smith Oahu. He is the son of Mr and Mrs H W Kelly of Shafter and husband of Elaine Maitland of Lancaster Massachusetts. He is a graduate of the U S Naval Academy.
