Migrant Housing Debate at North Shafter Labor Camp
The community discusses building migrant housing at the North Shafter Labor Camp while critics note it won’t meet permanent housing needs. A 10 percent annual rental vacancy rule is cited to fund new housing, with emphasis on distinguishing migrant from permanent residences. The text also notes state cigarette tax increases and a brief, era-flavored aside on stamps and palm trees.
