Utility Board Sets Tax Rate No Election

Collision Brings Two Teens to Kern General Hospital
Richard Beach 18 of Shaffer and Frank Lomel 17 of Bakersfield were taken to Kern General Hospital after a two car crash at Merced and Poplar avenues at 5 45 a m Tuesday. Lomeli car caught fire and Beach vehicle ended in a water ditch. Schaefer Ambulance transported the victims.

Trustees accepted a 32840.76 dollar bid from Tinge y Company Fresno for projection and sound systems in Bakersfield College language arts complex. The Shafter FFA held a June 24 1937 Junior Livestock Show as part of Frontier's Day with a 3000 prize fund share returnable at 75 percent. Over 8000 animals have sold for more than 2 million dollars and 650 juniors are expected to sell, with exhibitors aiming for about 190000 dollars in earnings. Participants include Shafter High School FFA members under Burley Dooley showcasing multiple Hereford Shorthorn Angus steers and Hampshire sheep. junior exhibitors also listed. Kern County Fair Heads Toward Final Days and Big Acts
