Yearbook Staff at Shafter High Plans 1980 Laurion
The SHS yearbook staff led by Editor Kim Stokes and co-editor Laurion, with Rex Creekbaum as assistant, Rhonda Emberson as business manager and Melinda Zachary as copy editor, coordinates 1980 Laurion production. Advisor Mrs. Denise Hamilton notes three returning members and many new participants, stressing accuracy and effort. The 1980 Laurion will be issued at year end.

Osborn Brothers reports trout season in full swing at Buena Vista with first tagged fish of the season landed by Jeff Foster of Bakersfield. A 12 year old, Jeff earned a hunting knife prize as his name entered in the monthly drawing for all tagged trout catches. Derby entries note Eddie Scoggins of Shafter for non trout division and limits for the week credited to A. Q. Abernathy of Shafter and Steve Mann of Wasco.

State Motor Vehicle Fee Share Disbursed to Cities and Counties
State Controller Kenneth Cory announced the November apportionment of in lieu motor vehicle license fees totaling 50,252,508. Kern County received 417,835 and Shafter 9,467. The distribution reflects October receipts deposited to the Motor Vehicle License Fee Account, with funds returned to local governments for general use after administrative costs. Distribution splits equally by population between cities and counties, based on 1970 Census adjusted for changes and estimates.
