Shafter City narrows shuttle plan buys one van
Shafter Council opts to purchase a single van for the Shafter Shuttle and lease a backup, instead of two vans. The Bakersfield National Van Conversion bus will seat 11 to 12 with a wheelchair, cost about 18,046 plus 2,000 for extras. Two-way radio upgrades totaling 8,470 were approved to modernize city communications. Police Chief Kaplan signals a future need for a second police frequency as maintenance concerns rise. Wayne and Jo Ann Davis' two $100,000 claims were rejected as meritless.
