Washington faces Dec special session on Europe aid
The expected special session in early December will confront a $580 million aid package to Europe for winter relief. John Taber and his House Appropriations Committee may shape foreign policy through money bills, while Senate Appropriations, led by Styles Bridges, aligns with foreign relations on most questions. The clash centers on whether dollars or anti communist action should drive policy as lawmakers meet privately in November.
