Thanksgiving Dance Planned By Junior Women
The Shafter Junior Woman's Club announces a Thanksgiving dance at the Women's Clubhouse on Saturday night November 22. Tickets are on sale from club members or at the door. $1.20 per person or $2.40 per couple. Requiem Mass services for Jesus Baiza Carrasco 33, were held yesterday November 10, at Saint John's Catholic Church Wasco with Father Breslin officiating. Interment was in Shafter Cemetery. Carrasco born July 20, 1914 in Grand Falls Texas, worked at Shafter Pump and Machine Shop when 10000 volt shock from a high power line caused his death while sand pumping a well on a local ranch. He is survived by his wife Francisco and numerous relatives in Shafter and Texas.

Quarterback Bob Scales connected twice with end Bill Sharp for long end zone passes, with Sharp making two acrobatic catches. Shafter police report a week of activity with fourteen arrests led by intoxication offenses. Milton Cox Willy Sullivan and Frank McCoy all fined 25 dollars with 30 day suspended sentences. McCoy and Sullivan rearrested that evening for intoxication. Alfred Meyer Pete Rodriguez cited for intoxication reckless driving and no operator license with 300 dollar fines and 180 day suspended sentences.
