Phony Check Passer Admits Two Murders
A 19 year old ex soldier Gerald Richards confessed to two murders in Socorro on October 1 and in Los Angeles the prior Wednesday. He admitted killing Charles Cuykor a 52 year old tailor found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room and Tom Nitsch whose death remains under investigation. Richards was arrested in Los Angeles after a shooting in the Biltmore lobby and will be tried there, with a Shafter police warrant sending him to L A. for murder charges.

20-30 Club plans Christmas street decorations
After a regular meeting, the Shafter 20-30 Club votes to hold a special session at the Neuman Warehouse to review old decorations and set up new fixtures for Christmas.
