Survivors include husband August Mettler and children in Idaho and California. Fonda Ann Gray 24 of Shafter to have arrangements later after fatal auto accident near Kalisport. Elisabeth Isaak MD 72 of Shafter died in Bakersfield hospital. service at Mennonite Brethren Church with interment and noted Red Cross work in China. Agee Family Funeral Home in charge.
The second annual Kern View Mental Health Seminar is set for Saturday November 4. Henry F. Brandt chairs the Kern View Board and opens the program with a focus on mood disorders and psychiatric consultation led by Edward J. Peters of Wasco. Local professionals will discuss clinical topics and community services offered by Kern View a Comprehensive Mental Health Center including outpatient and inpatient care. The event highlights the center first installment assessments due for the Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District and payment options with deadlines and penalties.
Trustees of the Kern County Union High School District approved a student body project at Shafter High School to construct a student center between the library and administration wings with a two year target completion. The project funds will be provided by the student body and a Model 107 cryocopier will be donated to the school library by gifts from Larry Wells and Betty Wells.
