Tulare County Road Chief Promises Immediate C V Highway Repairs
Tulare County Road Commissioner Art J. Snell told the Central Valley Highway Association that potholes on the Central Valley Highway in Tulare County will be repaired immediately. He noted funds are being considered in the next fiscal year for additional road work. The Central Valley Highway Annual Association meeting will be held in Alpaugh on June 22, 1948, with public invitation.

The Shafter progress notes 1400 acres planted to potatoes with earliest plantings on January 30 and February 1. Early spuds, large tubers sold by G. J. Siemens. 20 to 50 carloads asked for by firms. Association with Wood Stone presiding covers 1100 acres. Wasco district holds 600 more. Growers seek price stability while shipments go to Texas, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico and Utah.
