Farmers Warned on Unlicensed Hay Buyers in Kern County
Kern County farmers were urged by Agricultural Commissioner Seldon Morley to demand state licenses from grain and hay buyers. He advised verifying licenses, insisting on payment by check, recording license numbers, and contacting the Bureau of Market Enforcement if problems arise. The case of a northern California rancher who received four checks totaling 4500 dollars is being prosecuted as a felony.
