Drug Store Employees Aid In Apprehending Narcotics Forger
McClure's Drug Store employees Harry Groos and Esther Voth aided the sheriff in catching narcotics prescription forger Harry V. Bayer. Bayer tried to fill a prescription in a California coast city and used Arizona license plates to travel to the store before leaving the prescription. The clerks noted the car details and alerted authorities, leading to Bayer's capture.

Two workers at the Shafter Public Utility District sewage disposal plant were injured when a butane line exploded just after 9 am Saturday. Ivan Stone died Sunday afternoon from burns while Earl Roy Unruh was left in fair condition.
