False Alarm at Minter Air Defense Plan Scares Village
Rumor of 50 000 volunteers for a Pacific Coast air raid warning system unsettled Minter Village last week. A truck carrying roofing material near the wartime Minter Field sparked evacuation worries, later denied by Cecil Meadows who explained the material for county maintenance and noted field upkeep since 1942. Meadows said he could not confirm any current air defense plans for Minter Field amid heightened federal defense activity.
