Fiber optics may reach Shafter under city plan
Shafter officials voted unanimously on February 8 to explore bringing fiber optics to the southeast annexed area. The move launches an Advanced Technology Master Plan with drafts and ordinances, aiming to create a city owned network, improve municipal communications, enable remote meter reads, streaming video for parks and policing, and attract major providers and employers.
