Carol Rush a Shafter public health nurse outlines services available in the area including TB testing immunizations and clinics. The department offers home and clinic services with confidential care and can refer clients to local community resources though referrals for Home Health Care or services outside Kern County are not provided.
The Shafter Public Health Department lists February clinics with appointments required except for the Immunization Clinic. Call 746-7562 for an appointment. Clinics are at 329 Central Valley Highway with a Family Planning Clinic on February 22 from 8:30 to 1:30 and 1 to 4 pm and a Pregnancy Screening Clinic on February 22 from 9 to 11 am.
The Shafter Healthy Start and Shafter Public Health Department provide free classes for mothers with young children. Held at 329 Central Valley Highway, topics include Women's Health Concerns, Preparing Your Children for School, Nutrition and Car Seat Safety. Dates are March 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. Call 746-8690 for more information.
Senator Dan Florez of Shafter was named chair of the newly formed Senate Select Committee on E Commerce Wireless Technology and Consumer Driven Programming. The panel will review California policies on privacy identity theft and piracy. Its first hearing is planned for April.
The California Highway Patrol released a composite sketch of a man wanted for questioning in a December crash that killed Officer Manny. The sketch, based on eyewitness accounts, shows a pan Asian male in his early to mid 20s. CHP seeks a black Acura RSX Type S or any black RSXs and asks for tips to Fort Tejon Area Office at 248-6655.
