Letters to the Editor on camp health services in Shafter
A reader defends the health unit at government camps in North and South Shafter and Wasco, detailing nurse and doctor clinics and services funded by the Federal Security Administration. He warns that removing the program harms 2,000 people, especially children, and criticizes Congress for cutting welfare. Also notes local social visits and a line about embassy papers.

Stop signs on cross streets and local city notes
The city added a stop sign at Pacific and Munzer to reduce blind intersection accidents and suggests another at Pacific and James. Tornadoes floods and a rare quake are noted, while California enjoys mild weather. Newspapers in Los Angeles trade jabs, mosquitoes bite, and a battery charge story appears. University of California campuses abolish special, lab, and course fees with a $35 incidental per semester.
