Past champions coach Lopeteguy and Lopez

Kern County Deputy Sheriff and Shafter resident Joey Lopeteguy trains for the California Police Olympics in San Diego on June 28 after placing third at the 1971 state meet at 145 pounds and second in the Internationals in Austin. He will join high school coach Joe Lopez as assistant wrestling coach at Shafter High School next year.

Criswell Stars In Hall Of Fame Game For Spartans

SHSU star David Criswell led San Jose State in a spring Hall of Fame game, carrying six times for 37 yards and catching four passes for 50 yards. He earned the starting fullback spot, helped by a 70 yard kickoff return, and targets 1000 rushing yards and 40 receptions as the Spartans open at home vs Las Vegas.
