Retirement honors for Shafter High principal secretary Margot Carroll
Former Shafter High administrators and Kern High School District leaders gathered at the library to honor Margot Carroll on her 26 years as principal's secretary. Don Murfin praised her as everybody's secretary while Fred Starrh recalled early days and saved eggs. The celebration featured singing by the Singing Cakemen and a cake with a Time to Retire motif.

Educational Resource Development Trust seeks host families in three programs. High school students ages 15 to 18 from Europe Brazil Ecuador Venezuela Argentina and the Philippines for semester or year. high school and college students ages 16 to 25 for one month this summer from same origins, mainly France. Mobile Rec traveling park schedule announced
The Shafter Recreation and Park District outlines the Mobile Rec program operating 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Manuel Park on Mondays Richland Primary on Tuesdays Rodriguez Park on Wednesdays and Stringham's Park on Thursdays. Activities include Wiffle ball croquet dominoes checkers tossum yahtzee and other supervised games encouraging all children to attend the park of their choice.

Baton Workshops Offered by Park District This Summer
The Park District sponsors baton workshops with instructor Sue Anderson. Three one week sessions run June 13 to 17, July 25 to 29, and August 29 to September 2. Classes cover ages 5 and under 8:30 to 9:15, ages 6-9 9:30 to 10:15, and ages 10+ 10:30 to 11:15. Fee is 12 dollars per session. Batons available from the instructor.
