Potato Growers Urged to Vote on California Marketing Order
Long White potato growers across the San Joaquin Valley are urged to vote on a marketing order for the crop. Kern County Potato Growers Association president Arnold Kirschenmann says every eligible producer should cast assent forms as nonvoting counts as a negative. Community reps in Shafter Wasco Delano McFarland and Arvin assist with forms. If 51 percent of producers representing 65 percent of total production vote yes, the order would set a maturity standard for shipments and fund advertising and research.
