Firewater danger cautions Kern County July holiday drivers
Kern County Safety Council warns that the average person needs at least three hours to eliminate alcohol from two cocktails. Social drinkers outnumber intoxicated drivers and impairment occurs even with small amounts. Coffee does not offset effects and only time clears blood alcohol. Speed and drinking drive many holiday fatalities with half a million vehicles expected on roads over the three day Fourth of July period. Avoid drinking and speeding to improve highway safety.
