City to Repair Three Major Streets Immediately
The Bakersfield city council announced start of urgent repairs on Lerdo Street from Santa Fe tracks to the city limits, Shafter Avenue to the limits, and all Walker Street. Frank Goodrich of Bakersfield will perform the work under a square yard rental arrangement. The council plans to continue street repairs as soon as Goodrich completes current projects.

Reinstatement drive boosts VA insurance takeup
VA press chief Duke Bennett says the Los Angeles region has reinstated 75 000 GI policies totaling 600 million dollars over the past year. Since February 3 1947 the campaign expanded cooperation with press radio and civic groups. World War II veterans have 34 days to reinstate by showing good health and paying two premiums.
