Kiwanis Cage Carnival Opens With 18 Teams In Shafter
Shafter Kiwanis Club hosts the second annual Basketball Carnival at Shafter High School tomorrow starting at 1 pm. Over 175 elementary students from Richland Maple Lerdo and Rio Bravo schools compete in two divisions A and B with 22 teams total and finals slated for Saturday night.

Over 250 first and second graders participated in outdoor rhythms and singing games at Richland School last Friday under Letha Brock, principal and recreation director. Harness horses from the Robert Neuman stable remained in the money at Sportsman Park events in Phoenix Arizona last week. Neil Boardman finished repeatedly near the top in sulky driving earning second place. Lucky Grattan claimed one third and later a third in two dashes. Nite Express won a dash and placed second in another. Star Ambush, Spencer Patch and Montgomery Spencer also posted top finishes across Saturday events.
