Potato Festival Erects Gigantic Display Tent for Firms
A huge display tent will rise for the Potato Festival to showcase potato firms manufacturers and merchants. Two Shafter men Austin W. Duncan and Thomas R. Upton were charged with four counts of burglary at Smith's Corner. Upton was released after a key witness wavered on identification. Local Youth Gets 30 Days On Bad Check Charge
Aulston, a 19 year old South Shafter youth, is in county jail serving a 30 day sentence for issuing a bad check to Walter Gregory, local service station operator. He pleaded guilty after a hearing before County Judge E. K. Grant. He will be transferred to army authorities to face desertion charges after finishing the jail term. He was apprehended last Tuesday in Wasco by Chief of Police Robert Oliver.
