Serenade to Spring benefit luncheon and fashion show
Kern Chapter of Freedoms Foundation hosts its annual Serenade to Spring luncheon and fashion show at Stockdale Country Club on March 12 to raise funds for Youth Leadership Seminars at Valley Forge. Students visit Washington DC to meet officials and learn about American government while FFVF members model attire from The French Shop. Reservations from Pat Anderson or Virginia Nickelsen are required by March 10.

Slides on European church history shown to AARP chapter
Two local youths Kelly Bergen and Mike Bruce presented a history of the Christian church in Britain and Europe to the Shafter AARP. They showed slides from Ireland Germany Switzerland and Holland tracing the Anabaptist movement to Holland where they were named Mennonites. Ron De Hartog a missionary spoke on life in rural Colombia and Christian purpose.

Greeta Paslay was celebrated at a February 14 birthday party hosted by Catherine White. Guests included Sandee White Dr. Thomas White Josephine Larimer Mabel Yingst Hazel Frizzell Maryellen Newman and Lottie Cummings. Guests recalled old times in Shafter while many pictures were taken. Greeta and family arrived from Kansas in an old car that took seven days to reach.
