Pastor Ray Turner, linked to the World Wide Bible Lecture Team, will lecture at the Seventh-day Adventist church at Lerdo and Poplar this Saturday at 11:00 AM. The First Baptist Church hosted a “Sweethearts Banquet” for Rev. Mevin N. Krug Mrs Hazel Krug and family on February 14. J C Atkinson led the program with a lively variety show and a surprise “This Is Your Life” moment featuring photos and a book. Joe Norris, a Ohio native and World War II Marine veteran, teaches upper grade shop at Richland, after serving in the Pacific and earning a teaching credential. He and his wife Tess Keyes moved from Buttonwillow to Richland and later to Shafter, where they own a home and raise three children.

Senior students at Shafter High explored future paths during Career Day with talks from Bakersfield High School’s Leslie W. Hedge and visits to Hopper Machine Works, Pacific Telephone, Channel 29, Kern County Hospital, and more. The event included section meetings, a noon function, and an evening session with the Business and Professional Women.
The Seventh District P T A met in Arvin with Mrs. Ezra Suderman of Richland P T A presiding. Theme Reflections and Predictions featured a mock television dress rehearsal Seventh District Solar directed by C H Klee. Awards for life achievement went to H W Kelly and Dr Elrey McGovern. Mrs Grant Jensen displayed visual aids and covered A Desk For Billie.
