Twin Sisters 57 Die Within 21 Hours In Joint Rites
Identical twins Sallie Hathcock and Allie Osborn born February 5, 1900 in Ozark county died within 21 hours of each other in Shafter California. Mrs Osborn, longtime resident, owned Shortes Burger drive in, survived by husband Shortie L and four sons and three daughters with siblings and relatives listed. Funeral held at First Southern Baptist church due to space constraints. Rev Edward F Johns officiated.

George Collins Elected President of Shafter Rotary
George W. Collins, Shafter optometrist, was elected president of the Shafter Rotary for the year starting July 1, 1967. The election was unanimous. Marvin Neuman was named secretary-treasurer, also unanimously. Collins will be installed next summer, replacing Thurston Anderson. New board directors are Merton Wiedmann and William Siemens.

School District to Earn $1000 by Not Planting Cotton

Shafter merchants approve semiannual sales plan and lighting project
The Shafter Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture merchants division discussed semi casual and semi annual sale events and a street lighting completion on Central Avenue. They voted to observe holidays New Year’s Day Armistice Day Fourth of July Labor Day Thanksgiving and Christmas. President Burnett urged a twice yearly city wide sale and the group endorsed studying it further. They asked secretary Jack Startup to write to the City Council requesting downtown lighting be completed soon.

County to Build Large Concrete Slab in Richland Park
The Kern county Recreation Commission announced a 7200 square foot multi purpose concrete slab at Richland park. It will be built in two 60 by 60 foot installments 60 by 60 this year and next year at an estimated total cost of 1800 to 2300 dollars funded by the county. The slab will serve tennis badminton paddle tennis shuffleboard roller skating and square dancing and should be completed in two phases with the first half by July 1. It will be on the northeast side of the park behind Richland Primary School on Wall Street.
