The Department of Motor Vehicles reports 1946 fee paid registrations in Kern County reached 74 462, the highest on record and up from 1945. State totals stand at 3 442 041, up 323 211 from last year. Kern breakdown includes autos 55 358 trucks 8 362 motorcycles 642 trailers 10 100.
Mr and Mrs Fred Luders were at Cambria this past week, joining local activities and sightseeing in the seaside town.
Bakersfield Central Fire Station hosted 961 free chest X-rays by Kern County Tuberculosis and Health Association using a portable unit bought with Christmas Seals. The unit will tour Tehachapi this week and serve students and residents. since 1946, 6,908 free X-rays have been taken.

The Valentine box at Shafter High School raised seven dollars for the sophomore class fund after opening. Students paid three cents per Valentine addressed to them, with funds to help cover the upcoming freshman sophomore party costs.
