Richland Students Hear Talk By Oceanographer
Oceanographer Phillip Wright from San Jose State College spoke at Richland School sharing how marine science supports future food through “innerspace.” He urged study of basic sciences and languages and noted California tide pools decline due to coastal influx and overharvest. Wright, son of Belridge residents, visited Shafter with friend Bruce Joppini.

Farmers from the southern San Joaquin Valley are invited to Shafter High School for the fourth annual Farm Equipment Field Day on the school farm at Beech and Tulare Avenues. The event features demonstrations of 50+ pieces of equipment, tractor skills contests, and exhibits by Kern County dealers with activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
