W L Smith Recuperating at Son's Home After Heart Attack
W L Smith retired Buttonwillow area farmer and former Farmers Cooperative Gin director, dismissed from Mercy Hospital Monday after a severe heart attack, recuperates at his son Robert's Madera Avenue home near Shafter. He helped organize the gin in 1937 and sold his Buttonwillow ranch, part to Robert and part to Guino Romanini.

The fourth annual Farm Machinery Field Day at Shafter High School Farm features a new Tractor Skills Contest for FFA members.
