Man Arrested for Assaulting Peace Officer in Kern County
A Shafter man was arrested on Monday at 1:19 a.m. for allegedly assaulting a deputy and public intoxication near Merced Avenue and Mettler Avenue. He carried a bag with gun barrel-like items and refused to answer questions. He was treated at Kern Medical Center for a head wound from a prior incident and taken to Kern County Jail.

Two Busted for Assault In Shafter
Police arrested Pedro Basurto and Irene Enriquez Martinez early Sunday in the 300 block of Central Avenue for allegedly assaulting a security guard. Basurto, 42, charged with battery and being drunk in public, while Martinez, 42, charged with public intoxication. Police report pending.
