Graveside Rites Held Today for Billy Thompson
Graveside funeral services were held today for Billy Boyd Thompson at the Shafter Cemetery at 10 a.m. He was the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Thompson of 763 Central Valley Highway who died December 17 in a Bakersfield hospital. He is survived by his parents, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Thompson of Traver and Mrs. Jacob Rexius of Shafter, two brothers Fred Jr. and Aubry John, and three sisters Donna Lou Carolin Louise and Helen Ruth, all of Shafter. Armstrong mortuary handled arrangements.

Buttonwillow National Bank prepares to resubmit its application to open a Shafter branch after an initial denial in Washington. President George C. Four Shafter Family Dies of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
A former Shafter family of four was found dead in Glendale from carbon monoxide asphyxiation. Cardwell and Hinton families, both Los Angeles workers, stayed in a three room apartment where a non automatic heater burned gas without regulating temperature. Funeral services were held last Thursday at Shafter cemetery for Elizabeth Ann Reimer infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace F. The ee department and Shafter High School industrial class, the American Legion and Auxiliary coordinate Christmas aid for needy families Monday. Fire toys will be given and food baskets delivered to homes of those named by schools and service clubs.
