At the 10th annual Civic Sportsmanship Banquet Coach Dan Bledsoe announced that Charlie Mitchell won both male MVP and top scholastic average for the Shafter Generals. Mitchell led the roster in scholastic marks as Shafter claimed league titles and shared the divisional crown with Corcoran. Milton Johnson chaired the event with entertainment by the Shafter High string ensemble and support from local clubs and the Chamber of Commerce.

Post Office Extends Hours for Christmas Mail Rush
The post office will offer longer hours and more frequent deliveries through Christmas. On December 15 and 22 Saturday hours are 9 am to 5 pm and 8 am to 5 pm respectively, with a weekly 8 am to 6 pm schedule. Six extra helpers will handle increased mail, delivering up to three times daily on busy days. Residents are asked to be away from home to receive notes for retr ons at the office.

Richland Upper Grade Will Get Better Lighting
