Local artists exhibit at Holiday Art Gallery Bakersfield

Bakersfield Art Association hosts its second annual Holiday Art Gallery at East Hills Mall Bakersfield featuring Mary Jean Leslie Kathy Miller and Patti Wilson with watercolors and oils along with Sam Pierrs of Earlimart. The exhibit runs until December 19 1996 with all original paintings sculptures and photographs for sale.

Shafter Museum Plans 5000 Square Foot Farm Exhibit Hall

The Shafter Museum aims to add a 5000 square foot barn style hall to house restored farm equipment and a 1920s blacksmith exhibit. Donated in 1978 and moved in 1980, the museum opened officially in 1982 and now seeks about $100,000 total with $40,000 raised. The project targets a Summer 1997 completion, funded largely by donations, to renew local interest in history. Community leaders Art Kadel Jack Nikkel and Roy Shaffner sponsor the effort and hope for strong support.
