Kern County to join national eating habits survey
Kern County households will be included in a nationwide study of American eating habits conducted for the U S Department of Agriculture. James Radoumis of the Kern County Board of Trade said the follow up to 1977-78 will sample more than 20 000 homes. National Analysts, a Booz Allen Hamilton unit in Philadelphia, will run the survey from this month through February 1980. The project aims to detail food consumption by family and household, track dietary patterns across life styles and sizes, and show how data translates into action such as school lunch and food programs. The study also notes factors like aging, changing work patterns, and home production in response to rising food costs. Artichokes are briefly mentioned as garden notes, with planting guidance provided.
